Fans of the BBCs comedy series The League Of Gentlemen about a weird Yorkshire town will love this film for the humour is very similar.The Northerners is set in a sterile sixties new build housing estate with an equally sterile dark and dingy pine plantation planted to protect the estate from the elements of the sea in the north of Holland.The comedy is very surreal with a Postman who sits in the middle of the plantation steaming open everyones letters with a kettle and camp fire before making his deliveries,next the local Game Warden who has taken Law and Enforcement into his own hands by patrolling the town streets with a loaded rifle ,then a randy Butcher who cant keep his hands off the local house wives,the butchers wife turns vagan after taking orders from a statue of St Francis that talks and walks about her bedroom.There is also an African native kept in a cage by some very sinister Roman Catholic monks who tore Holland with their Congolese Antiquities show.
