You will find restaurants with national and international cuisine all over town. There’s plenty of *stuff* to see, from presumably authentic local artefacts, to entirely authentic Angry Birds hats. There are buses departing from the Carcelén bus terminal in Quito to Otavalo, Ecuador every day.
These buses leave regularly from the side of the Quitumbe terminal right outside the food court. Go to it.Otavalo is easy to reach from Quito, you just grab a bus from the north bus terminal. When we visited the cloud was firmly on the deck, and I suspect the magical colours of the lakes were not in full effect.Still, if you have better luck with the weather, I am told that the three lakes are truly gorgeous, offering different colours as a result of their chemical composition.

Also, try to buy souvenirs directly from the people that produce them, i.e. The driver will stop at the main bus station in town and then you’ll need to get a taxi (around $1) to the market.The town is really small, so your ride won’t take more than 5-10 minutes.Just remember to give yourself plenty of time to find a cab and return to the station in the afternoon. the Otavalo-based agency Note that only a few buses to Quito actually leave from the bus station, but you can jump on all services coming from the North passing Otavalo at the Panamericana.
