I do not require characters to be likeable for me to like a book, but an exception to that rule is cozy mysteries. Anyway, I enjoy this one and will continue reading it. I liked that Henry Comacho (the cop from the first book) makes a return visit and we finally see his humanity. Abby, however, tells Ophelia that trouble is on its way pertaining to Brian's murder, and it's time for Abby to accept her gifts and gain the knowledge and courage she needs to face this dark part of her past and move on.Since the end of the previous book Abby has been guiding Ophelia to understand her gifts and her witchcraft. The Angel of Death cannot be stopp… But on the other hand, I find her uptight, defensive, sarcastic & rude. As with a lot of series, it may spruce back up again though. Death claims the souls of those who die and takes them to the afterlife. I had hopes for this series but while the first book was entertaining (and I love Abby and her relationship with Ophelia), this was just more “same old, same old” - didn’t fulfill the promise of the first book. I'm of two minds with the main character Ophelia. In this case, I just don't. But who is it?
