The percentage of Approved Tomatometer Critics who have given this movie a positive reviewThe percentage of users who rated this 3.5 stars or higher. | https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/04/04/pet-sematary-review Needless to say, it all goes bad as Louis’ well-meaning attempt to cheat death quickly devolves into a Grand Guignol-style procession of flashing knives, spurting blood, and sliced hamstrings.Granted, King’s original novel was little more than an extra-gruesome riff on the classic tale “The Monkey’s Paw.” But while it was not one of his more elegant efforts, the book hit readers with a gut-punch that allowed them to overlook all the plot holes (ranging from why Jud would even bring up the burial ground in the first place to wondering why a family with two young kids would buy a house that close to a busy highway) and also worked as an exploration of people struggling to process intense feelings of grief and loss and how short cuts can lead to disaster all around.

They buy a huge property, which in the back has an old pet cemetery, but beyond that lies something far more sinister, an ancient Indian burial ground, where it is said, those buried there, can return.
| Rating: C She steals the movie, with Kolsch and Widmyer's blessing. Pet Sematary is beautifully acted, suspensefully paced, competently staged, and overall is pretty successful at delivering that chilling sense of unease and redolent grossness that the best adaptations of Stephen King’s horror stories do.
Movies: Pet Sematary (2019) Louis Creed (Jason Clarke) moves his family to a house in rural Maine, adjacent to a pet … The latest version of Pet Sematary unveils yet another cinematic take on Stephen King’s 1983 horror novel—a book the author reportedly hesitated to publish for fear he had ventured too far into the realm of nightmare.. And this is, indeed, an unsettling bad dream of a movie. Clarke is fantastic as Louis, and Laurence is even better as the precocious, painfully sensitive Ellie.

The only studio that should be allowed to create Stephen King adaptations should be New Line. "Pet Sematary" addresses issues of death and our unwillingness to accept it in a fun, frank manner.
