Really the only question that remains is: who is the father of Evelyn's little boy in 2034?In many ways, "The Cellar" is a classic love story. Evelyn, who wants more from life, feels trapped in 1919 and finds freedom in the opportunities of modern life in 2019. I'm in the middle somewhere. There are superficial discussions of rigid gender roles, posters touting the institution of Prohibition, jokes centered on the limitations of past technology, and a bustling speakeasy to boot. The Cellar, the episode of Amazing Stories available for review that debuts on Apple TV Plus March 6, is no Black Mirror. Time will tell if these new Amazing Stories are affective at this new extended length. "The Cellar" is a sweet and safe time-hopping love story that feels very on-brand for the type of out-there, ultimately unchallenging, tales Spielberg's original series was spinning back in the '80s.
