The hero is a medieval Batman image I found, and the villain is a medieval Doctor Doom. Updated file to be posted here in the next few minutes - it's still the original release version, as the next update is in the middle of changes that isn't ready to package. Just loaded a save from yesterday to check: Venom did show up, but found at least one character with portrait 57 that was 23 years older than him (and thus can't be his child I guess). I'm 99% sure I was spelling the name right, so I don't think that's the issue. New game with all other mods deactivated to rule out them interfering.

I had a whole bunch of "empty portrait numbers" show up, 59-61.
