Do not connect your printer until after the software installation is complete. It wasn't until after my purchase that I started seeing all the negative reviews. Also, out of the box it did print where the letters were sort of pushed together however just changing the printing preferences to print as "light" instead of the normal or dark setting fixed the problem. nice printer, just a bit of a pain trying to get it to work for what I wanted.
