The cabin had a full size refrigerator and stove, really nice couch and arm chair. They are set back from the road so you cannot see it from the cabin, but you occasionally can hear some road noise. The provided coffee was delicious! Situated in Girdwood, this lodge is 1.3 mi (2.1 km) from Alyeska Ski Resort and 13.6 mi (21.9 km) from Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. An excellent little get away for us! We spoke with Lynne for a few minutes and she is very friendly. The plus is that there were screens on the windows so we could open them without getting mosquito bites through the night.

We moved to the Alyeska cabin for our second night and were a bit disappointed- compared to the Glacier cabin this one left us wanting. In the summer when the sun doesn't go down the sun is shining right into your face while you try to sleep. The bedroom is up in the loft and while the lower level windows all have blackout curtains the high windows that shine directly into the loft/bedroom area do not. Alyeska Cabin was remodeled in 2018 with a new kitchen and bathroom that features a claw-foot bathtub. Rented the Placer for a one night getaway. Our cabins are comfortable and clean and provide you with the amenities of home. Unless you are looking for resort amenities, it's hard to imagine there is a better place to stay in Girdwood. The cabin has gas heat but additionally has a wood burning stove which gives it a cozy feeling in the winter. The kitchen is fully-stocked. You’ll be greeted by your hosts, Lynné and Patrick Doran, who live onsite and welcome every guest with homemade blueberry bread. This was a really lovely place to spend my last 3 nights in Alaska. The owners offered to let us stay one night in the Glacier Cabin and one night in the Alyeska Cabin in order to accommodate both parties and we accepted. Walkers can stroll the bike path along the road into town, just 1 mile away. This cabin has an open floor plan with a loft that looks down into the living room. You’re also just 20 minutes from Whittier, where you can cruise or kayak the waters of Prince William Sound, and just 10 minutes from the Alaska Wildlife Conservation center.
