And I'm peeved that we only have AP classes for math, science, and foreign language but no AP/advanced classes for English or history—instead, we have collegiate-level English only, which hurts the kids who can't handle it.On the whole, though, Hackley is amazing, and I love it!Overall, one of the best aspects of Townsend Harris is the way the curriculum prepares students for higher education.
I think the honors & AP classes are very well developed. Administration could be doing a better job at ensuring resources for mental health, which should be a given in schools with such a competitive environment. Finding diverse schools are hard and being a black woman in America, finding students like myself was hard in my area but I was afforded the opportunity to meet hundreds of amazing students from all across the world and had the pleasure to consider them friends.There are a ton of clubs and extracurriculars to choose from! I also enjoyed being party of the community at FASNY.
I love the camaraderie and that I was able to become friends with students in other grades.

Athletics are very strong as well as the district provides a lot of funding. Annual pep rallies and football games show our school's dedication to the spirit of Port Washington, and we love making our town proud! Although the school lacks racial diversity, I was still able to learn about different cultures from certain of my piers.
Lastly, the school could definitely do better in terms of school safety since a lot of students take the subway to school.I have been at FASNY since nursery and I generally enjoyed my experience there.
Most of the teachers I had were excellent and allowed me to push myself academically in order to prepare myself for college. Even during the Pandemic, FA stepped up and provided safe opportunities for the graduates to feel valued and loved. You could only find extremely passionate and enthusiastic educators in the highest level classes, which means the majority of the students here never get to have the experience of having an extraordinarily passionate teacher, which likely is a reason why most people do no enjoy school.I will always remember my history teachers at HSAS & their classes.

For the purposes of a holistic review though, I have to take into consideration the things I didn't like about Syosset: the changes in the middle of the year & seemingly unnecessary renovations. NBS has been working twords increasing this in recent years. The vision, execution, and evolution of the model is spot on. In your high school career at Bronx Science, you are bound to encounter some teachers that are harsh at grading, play favoritism, communicates poorly with the students, and simply don't know what they are doing. I love the atmosphere here, and I had a lot of fun! My grade was a bit cliquey and I myself didn't seize opportunities to get involved in the school community. The parade yesterday was awesome. Townsend Harris High School; Stuyvesant High School; Queens High School for the Sciences at York College I did not get to take AV or CAD, and I am already going to be a Junior. Friends of mine attend other all girl schools in the city, and, from what I have seen and heard (from tours during my eighth grade year and through word of mouth), no school balances academic rigor, a strong community, and the ability to take part in extracurricular activities as well as Nigtingale does. The administration puts a lot of effort into building a kind community, and I honestly think this is the best you're going to get in a school.
